The PUSH Effect To Becoming More Successful At Anything You Do

Posted by in Inspiration

Start Becoming Successful Today

Before I explain what the “PUSH Effect” is, let me share a story.

As you know I went thru health issues over 10 years ago. I needed a new Kidney and had gone thru dialysis for a few years before I received my kidney.

At the time I was a young guy in my prime, enjoying the ladies, fast cars and partying.

But all that had to stop, I had to put my health first “wasn’t easy to do” but I did it.

How did I go from being a party animal to a normal laid back semi health cautious guy and still maintain sanity and be happy?

I learned to hold onto and enjoy the little things in life.

I had to, it’s all I had then.

For me it could of been something as small as…

a good football game on.
spending time with my nephew
a good meal.
hanging out with a friend.
spending time with my girlfriend.
getting in my car and bumping up my 4,000 watt stereo and going for a drive.  (ok, in hindsight the 4,000 watt system may have been a little over load…lol)

There are 100 more small things that I enjoyed.

These things are what helped me move forward, these things are what kept me sane and happy.

These were my PUSHES!

“A PUSH is anything positive in your life that will “PUSH” you forward and keep you happy and productive.”

These PUSHES will help you start becoming more successful, right away!

Bloggers Listen Up

I shared this picture on Facebook yesterday…

so-what-you-love

Truth and Power in that quote.

I have told and will continue to tell newbie bloggers to NOT chase the money, because the harder you chase it, the longer it will be before you catch it.

As a blogger you need to blog about something you care about or enjoy.

Because when the money doesn’t come as fast as you would like, doing something you enjoy will keep you moving forward with or without the money.

This will also help you use the PUSH Effect!

Your PUSH can be anything, and everyone’s PUSH will be different.

But your PUSH can be as simple as…

a tweet from a bigger blogger then you.
a positive reader comment.
a positive testimonial.
a guest blogging opp on a big blog

Whatever it is, enjoy it, be proud of it and use it to move you forward.

Remember this: “Nothing BIG will happen in your life, until you build off of the many SMALL things”

So what is your goal you ask?

To get as many small PUSHES as you can daily, the more PUSH you get daily the easier it will be to get things done for your blog.

As a blogger you have those days that you just hit a wall, you don’t want to write a blog post, or you just are not seeing the results you would like.

You will see how fast that slump ends when you get a few new PUSHES that day.

For me, there have been MANY days in the past 2 years where I just didn’t want to write another blog post, I was tired, lazy, jaded, bored, uninspired.

Then I get online the next day and get a PUSH from a reader saying…

“JP thanks so much for the info you share on your blog, it has helped me so much.”

Don’t know about you, but that PUSH moved me to write 3 blog posts that DAY! :)

….. and chances are it would of moved you to do the same.

Apply PUSH Effect In Your Daily Life

The PUSH Effect can be applied to all parts of your life. No matter what you do or want to do, you can learn to enjoy and build of the small PUSHES you get.

Are you a parent? Having a bad day?

How would your day change if your son or daughter gave you a “I love you mom/dad PUSH”?

It would get A LOT better right?

Have a job? Hating your job today?

How would your day change if you got a “Your doing a great job on that project PUSH” from your boss?

It would most likely get better and get you more motivated to finish that project faster and better.

Have a boyfriend/husband? Feeling fat today?

How you feel if you man came home and gave you a “Your ass looks amazing in those jeans PUSH?

Chances are you will be feeling pretty damn good and your man’s night just got A LOT better…lol

When you grow your blog or you live your life for the right reasons then you will see value in the little wins “PUSHES” and use them to stay motivated, stay productive and stay positive.

[raises hand, stands up] my name’s vanita and i haven’t blogged in over a week. at least i don’t think i did. i sure as heck don’t remember doing so. sure haven’t felt like it.

but you’re right on the money John. I got up at 4am this morning to write a post. It’s not done yet. But will be soon. Just because of a little push where my feedback was appreciated.

those pushes do keep me going. heck, a few have come from you. so if i haven’t thanked you yet, Thank you John.

I’m glad the post and PUSHES have helped Vanita. Sometimes it’s all we need to get back to work and get refocused :)

John this was a post from God.

I started a blog a little over a year ago for the network marketing niche. And hated ever moment of it. I was only looking to make money. So when I tried to write a post my mind was empty. I couldn’t write. That probably bc I hate writing or don’t believe in my voice and the value I bring. Whatever it was I haven’t wrote on that blog in almost a year. So i will be taking that blog down and create something new.

Thanks for the awesome post bro!

Great post, John Paul – I’ve had a bit of a ‘push’ myself this very evening from someone who’s left a lovely comment on my blog. Really needed it, because I was feeling exhausted from my day job and wondering how I’d have the energy to get anything done online tonight.

I think you’re right about the importance of enjoying what you’re doing and not just chasing the money. I’m still a good way from making any money online, but what keeps me going at the moment is the fact that I’m having great fun and getting a kick out of each little bit of progress I make.

I also reckon one of the best ways to get some great ‘pushes’ from other people is to network and make friends online. I’d probably have given up by now if I hadn’t stayed in touch with a couple of friends I met on a course last year. And I’ve now joined a lively ‘mastermind’ group that’s grown out of another course – as well as getting to know a few people via blog commenting. Which is how I got the little ‘push’ that’s given me a boost this evening.

If you put your mind to it, you can always find ways to give yourself a bit of a push – but it’s lovely when someone else puts some wind in your sails,

    Thank you!

    Sue

Esha, at least you learned that quick. If you don’t like what your blog is about, things will get very hard as time goes by.

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com John Paul

Susan, glad to hear you got a nice PUSH just when you needed it. Funny how it always seems to work like that.. the best PUSHES come when I seem to need them most.

I agree, building relationships online is a great way to get the PUSHES you need, also sharing great helpful content will get you those PUSHES.

Keep working and having fun with it and the money will come for u:)

John, you always hit the right note.  I is really almost spooky but true that going for the money just brings everything to a halt. But when I lay back, be myself and write about what truly interests me things look up.

So here is your PUSH…I think you are the best information guy for all us “Money Dummies”.  You are welcome!

    Dear John Paul,

Firstly, you can thank MJ Gottlieb for me discovering your Blog. MJ is a true entrepreneur and a genius. I read everything I can he writes (or speaks via video), and follow as many links of his as I can.

If this comes across as arrogant and conceited? Too bad. I am not a Blogger. I am a Professional Writer, and you should consider yourself one.

I didn’t spend 18 years perfecting (attempting to) the craft of creative writing for people to call me a Blogger.

I spent many years in Religious Life (training for the Priesthood). If it taught me one thing? (And it taught me many. It formed my mind in the best way a mind can be formed): The little things matter.

“Lord, perfect me in the simple little things of ordinary daily life.”

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com John Paul

David thanks for the support man,… Appreciate that.

I’m a blogger that writes I guess haha…seems to fit what I do.

I agree.. MJ is a good dude and a smart one at that.

You quote fits perfectly man.. Thanks for sharing.

Great post. To build off small things is something we all need to do. the thing is we often see the success of others after it has happened, so we rarely see the pushes. Good way to keep it going.. in small steps ..

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com John Paul

TY for that Pai.. glad you enjoyed it. I agree,, the small things sometimes get overlooked, yet they are the most important things on the journey.

As a writer you just don’t aim for money, it’s the passion itself that drives you to write or blog. I really like the feeling when people read my work, tell me they like it, it feels like your living for a purpose. That is what writing all about. Thanks for this ‘PUSHY’ article you had JP. :)

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com John Paul

That is the best way to look at writing or blogging Hannah.

If you do it for the right reasons, in time the money will come.

I agree to, that it is a great feeling when you share and people share how you have helped them.. awesome feeling.

haha you welcome for the PUSHY post :)

  • Adrienne

    Hey John,

I can so relate to this post. I had heard that you had health issues when you were a little younger. I hate for anyone to have to go through that. As for me, I lived with a Dad who fought cancer my entire life. I lost him nine years ago and we are so blessed to have had him as long as we did. He use to always tell me when I was complaining that it could be worse. You could be laying in a bed somewhere dying of cancer so get over it. Yep, that worked every darn time.

That’s what I love about blogging. I admit coming into this for the money but boy did I learn quick that you really have to care about people if you want to get anywhere. That was never an issue for me so that came pretty natural. I love it when I get positive feedback from something I’ve written. Just makes blogging all the more worth it to me.

Great post and thanks for sharing this. I have a feeling this helped a lot of people with that necessary push.

    ~Adrienne

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com John Paul

Thank U for the support Adrienne.. and sorry to hear about your dad. Seeing someone go thru an illness can be very hard, but Im sure you came out of that a stronger person :)

In blogging you need to have that tough mindset if you want to be successful. There are so many “down” days in the beginning it is so easy to give up. but if you can hold onto those small wins “PUSHES” and keep working, the success you want will be there. Plus you will get to connect with so many great people along the way that will help and support you to succeed. It’s not a bad gig if you work it right :)

  • Laura B Williams

John, you put into words what I have been telling my kids for years. Go the extra mile when you can to brighten someones day or give them a hand. Your day will be better and so will theirs. As a former business manager I was able to great teams because I trusted people to do their best and made sure they had the skills and tools to do so and I thanked them and showed that I sincerely appreciated them. I practice this in my everyday life and I am fortunate to have wonderful and loving friends and family that “push” me back.Great blog post and I can tell it was heartfelt.

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com/ John Paul

Laura, TY for your great comment.. I hope the post helps motivate you to get back to where you want to be with your family and friends :)

A push is like the snowball at the top of the hill that gets that little nudge, and grows in momentum, strength and force. To the push:) Cheers! Kaarina

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com/ John Paul

Exactly Kaarina, use each “Push” to reach the next bigger “Push” :)
