Do You Need To Hit Your Entrepreneur Bottom

Entrepreneur Advice To Get You Moving

Lately, I have had more and more bloggers, entrepreneurs asking me how they can keep growing there blogs or business.

Asking how they can keep up with all the work they have to do daily, like coming up with new posts and keeping up with all the promotions and social media activity and etc… entrepreneur-advice

My Answer?

If your one of those “give me the bottom line JP” personalities…

You have to decide you want it bad enough, you have to hit a bottom.  Just like an addict needs to hit their bottom before they decide to get help.

Now if you have a few minutes and want to read advice from a guy that has lived it, then keep reading, you will be happy you did. :)

I want to take it back to the real shit… you know that real talk that can be painful and ugly but honest and helpful?

Yes, I can share a another how to post or great tips post and those are helpful, but if your motivation isn’t there to take action, then all that how to shit is useless since you won’t ever act on it.

Answer this Question.

How many times do you read one of my posts or anyone’s posts and act on the advice as soon as you finish reading it?

Be honest… the answer is between you and yourself.

I bet you said maybe 50%, 20%, less than 10% of the time?

Now, why wouldn’t you act on FREE information that will help grow your blog, your social activity or your business?

Lazy? Busy? Don’t trust in what you read?

Or is it that your just not motivated enough. Maybe your blog and business isn’t a priority to you and your family the way you think it is.

So, let’s work on what’s going on between your ears, since that will determine what you do or don’t do in the future.

Let me share my story of my bottom that finally got me to jump and make changes that have led me to where I am right now.

Now between you and me, this is NOT easy for me to share, I’m a private person and sharing how big a loser I was is not something I like to do.

But I know it will be helpful to you at some level. :)

My Bottom Story

Years ago I had many small bottoms, things like not having the money to buy gifts for my niece and family on holidays or birthdays.

To not dating “good” girls because I didn’t have the money to put into dates or a relationship.

I became an expert at the 3 dates and jump game, that I became the poster boy
for… it’s not you, it’s me… and I meant it.

Ok, a few times it was THEM, since I have dated some crazy chicks haha, but usually it was me.

As bad as all that was, I learned to adapt just like an addict and lived with it.

My REAL bottom finally hit one day when I picked up my nephew at school and he told me he was hungry and if we could go to Mc Donald’s, something we normally did when I would pick him up.

But that day I was shit broke, I had enough money to put gas in my car and that’s it.

So instead of saying no or figuring something out, I instead got pissed off and took it out on him.

Telling him he doesn’t always need to eat out and didn’t you eat at school and there is food at home and you don’t need Mc Donald’s all the time.

It was ugly!

After I dropped him off, I drove home thinking how big a loser I was for first not having $5 to buy him food, but to then get mad and take it out on him.

That was my bottom to finally make some changes and get to work.

Is Your Bottom Coming?

Do you need to hit a bottom to finally be the successful entrepreneur that you want to be?

What will it take to get you to finally act and stop making excuses?

Now that might have been the hardest post for me to write, but I am happy to say, I have not looked back since my bottom.

Oh, and my nephews eat Mc Donald’s anytime they want haha

I’ll end with this powerful quote…

“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life” J.K. Rowling

Hey Champ, I’ve been there several times. The secret is to keep that vision or goal in front of you at all times. When I 1st got started with online marketing I wasn’t seeing any results for a while. I was ready to throw in the towel and call it for good. Today, I’m so glad that I kept that vision in front of me. You are awesome buddy!

I agree Josh, you have to stay focused on your goal and just keep working. You do that long enough, success will find you :)

I’m with Josh on this, John… I’ve hit a few bottoms on this hair-ball journey and fought through it.

The only thing that kept me going while my dome was getting peeled back was
understanding my vision belonged to me if I simply kept going until I embrace
    the fullness of it.

It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you let go of logical thinking and take some
    massive courageous action!

It’s the difference between mediocrity and being a champion of anything.

    Cheers, gentlemen : )

To use another analogy – entrepreneurs need to get into / out of hot water situations as quickly as possible — don’t sit there and get burned — take action.

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com/ John Paul

I agree, but you have to get to a point where that vision, goal is so important that you will not let anything get in your way.

Once you are there, then you are right Mark..just keep working and good things will happen.

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com/ John Paul

Stephen, it def is all about taking action. Fast action gives you less time to over analyse and second guess.

Thanks for sharing this John (I need to read your blog more).

I am glad people like you write posts like these.., it does motivate and teach us, well.., me anyway.
My becoming an entrepreneur is all about hitting that bottom, in my case an emotional one, not financial.
I will run like hell this year.., keeping my eye on the ball…

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com/ John Paul

Thanks for your first comment Rogier.. glad the post was helpful.

That’s all you can do, put your head down and work till you hit your goals. Hope you kick ass this year :)

That was an interesting bottom story. You motivate people to reached their goal and to clear up their vision about something that they really want to do. Striving hard can help you succeed and sometimes you don’t need to hit your entrepreneur bottom before you act.

  • http://www.johnpaulaguiar.com/ John Paul

Anika, you def don’t need to hit your bottom, but for some, you will have to, to finally take massive action.

I hope the post helps people NOT have to hit their bottom like me :)

  • Adam Paudyal

Hey John, interesting story and one heck of a post.

I can relate to you and your story in many ways. I have hit financial and emotional rock bottoms many times – which sometimes has been real tough to climb out of.

This post is very motivating indeed. There couldn’t have been a better time THAN NOW to read a post like this. Appreciate it brother!
