Now that Twitter and Facebook fan pages are included in Google search results, I thought I would share with you a few SEO tips to get more SEO push out of your twitter and facebook pages.

These tips apply to both twitter and facebook fan pages and they are simple to do.. and we all like simple..right?  lol

Choose The Best Name and Username

Your name should include one of your keywords, or at least fit your niche. Ex: if you sell dog toys, then choose a name that fits that. twitter, facebook, twitter seo, facebook fan pages, johnpaulaguiar.com, make money with a blog

You can also add a keyword to your display name too. I don’t do this because it makes it less personal, but if SEO juice is what you want then keyword your name too.

Use A Actual Website URL

With you url in your profile, make sure to use your actual url not a shortened one.  Also remove the “www” since Google only takes your first 20 characters.

Juice Up Your Profile

Your profile is a great place to put your keywords, but again don’t go over board since you want to personalize your profile as much as you can, and you only have 160 char. Keywords will help with search also on twitter makes it easier for people to search and find you.

SEO Your Avatar

This is cool, you can SEO your profile picture! You can’t can rename the photo before you upload it that way when it shows up in the URL it will have the keywords that you named. Make sure to leave NO spaces.

Use Keywords and Hashtags

Try to use your top keywords in your tweets and status messages this will help Google rank you too. Also try to use hashtags on your tweets, since Google is starting to rank hashtags.

For me, I like to use #moneydummyblog for my blog posts, that way if you search that, all my posts will pop up.

Promote Your page Like A Website

Make sure that you are submitting your twitter profile and facebook fan page to RSS feeds to directories and ping it.

You should be doing this already to get your twitter and facebook page out there, but make sure to add your twitter user name in blog posts and forums.

This will allow you to get higher page ranks.

Ok all these tips are great and done will help your Google search rankings, but be sure to not go to far, to much SEO efforts and it becomes annoying to actual people, and to little won’t give you much power with Google.

What you think?  Have any SEO tips for Twitter and Facebook pages?

I been hearing a lot about twitter becoming more and more noisy with sponsored tweets, or advertising tweets.

I can see both sides of this argument and I agree with both sides.. I think..lol

Basically a sponsored tweet is a tweet about a product or service that you are paid to tweet to your followers.

I think this is a great way to advertise real time and reach your target audience. I think the problem most people have is more with the frequency people will post these type of tweets.

If you tweet out helpful, informative, and funny tweets that people like, then a sponsored tweet here and there wont piss people off to much.

Now if you are tweeting 5-10 tweets a day and 4 are sponsored, then yes people will get pissed off and unfollow you.

I send sponsored tweets out at one per day.  It is a nice way to make a little extra money on the side just by tweeting.

Right now there are 3 main sites that you can sign up with that offer twitter advertising.

SponsoredTweets.com

sponsoredtweets.com, make money with a blog, johnpaulaguiar.com

Sponsored Tweets is a new Twitter advertising platform that connects advertisers with tweeters. Advertisers can create sponsored conversations on Twitter. Tweeters can earn money for spreading the word.

All you need is a Twitter account to get started. Sponsored Tweets is a white listed Twitter application and uses your Twitter credentials to create an account.

I like sponsored tweets because they pay you per tweet, right now I’m at about $25 per tweet. I have made about $200 using them the past 3 months, not a lot of money, but a nice bonus.

Ad.ly

image

Ad.ly is an in-stream advertising platform that matches top-tier Twitter publishers with top-tier brands.

Ad.ly enables Twitter publishers to make money from the content they produce on Twitter by sending one tweet every day from advertisers that they approve. In order to ensure authenticity, every Ad.ly tweet is explicitly approved by the Twitter publisher. The publishers are able to set the price they want advertisers to pay and can optionally donate their earnings to charity.

I havn’t made much money with Ad.ly, but I have signed up a few referrals that make me a little money each month

MyLikes.com

mylikes.com, johnpaulaguiar.com, make money every day

MyLikes is a word-of-mouth advertising platform that allows the long tail of influencers on the web to create endorsements for products and services they like. They are attempting to change the way brand and discovery advertising is done on social media and other places on the web where influencers have a more engaged following, by letting the influencers choose and write endorsements in their voice.

By paying the influencers on a cost-per-click basis, we incentivize the influencers to make these endorsements as relevant to their audience as possible.

I am new to my likes, signed up last week, and so far I have made $6 in 2 tweets, nice start

My likes is the new kid, so far I like how they work, my only issue is not having more offers to choose from.

Overall I think done carefully, ad tweets are fine on twitter, and a great way for you to make a little extra money.

Above links to all 3 are my affiliate links, so if you click and join you will be my referral.

What do you think? Ad tweets good or bad?

It has been 2 weeks since I officially launched Twitter Dummy Guide, so I wanted to share my results and also some things I learned from my first product launch.

This was my first product launch, and I have to say it opened my eyes to a few things.

1-Launching a product is HARD and takes A LOT of work. I mean I’m not expert at launching a product, but I did spend about a month reading as much as I could on the topic.

2-The blogging community is awesome and showed great support for a up start blogger like me.

Let’s talk about the hard work, here is just a few things I did to promote Twitter Dummy..

1-Press release sent to about 100 websites.

2-Article sent to about 200 websites.

3-Submitted Twitter Dummy Sales page to over 200 directories.

4-Wrote a sales page

5-Finished ebook and worked on banner ads for affiliates

6-Setup affiliate system for Twitter Dummy

7-Contacted bloggers and marketers to get a JV partnership.

8-Wrote 2 posts to build buzz around twitter marketing

9-Drank more coffee then I thought I ever could :)

That is a small list of everything I did leading up to and thru out the launch.

Blogging Community Support

Let me start by saying not all bloggers were interested or even liked the guide. But that’s ok, the fact that they answered my email and were nice enough to congratulate me and wish me luck in my launch was pretty damn cool.

Having people that are #1 in the world like ShoeMoney, Darren Rowse, Chris Brogan to reply to my email directly.. and show support was a BIG eye opener. What I will say is work on the email you initially send, I think that is why I had such a great response from people I reached out to.

Bloggers That Were A Big Help

First was Kevin Muldoon at BloggingTips.com  Kevin did a nice Twitter Dummy Review

I have to say Kevin was awesome, answered my questions and even offered me a guest posting slot on BloggingTips.com, Just a str8 up nice guy!

image

Next was Tyler Cruz at TylerCruz.com  Tyler did a Twitter Dummy Giveaway Contest  connected to his Twitter account, very cool idea. Again another really nice guy that was a great help.

image

Then we have Robb Sutton at RobbSutton.com  Robb wrote I think the BEST Product Review I ever read..lol  After reading it I was like “Damn I’m Awesome” lol

Robb was a great help and again another nice guy that answered all my questions.

image

Like I said earlier, not all bloggers replied or were willing to promote Twitter Dummy for their own reasons.

But a nice side benefit  was even though some said no to promoting Twitter Dummy, some did offer me guest post opportunities, and some just acknowledged that they knew who I was and about my blog, from the comments I have left on their blog over past few months.

So that is proof that your “Quality” comments on other blogs do get you noticed.

How Did Twitter Dummy Do

So far I have made 4 sales before the launch and 53 sales after, about 30% of that from a few affiliates.

Now I don’t know how good or bad that is compared to most product launches, but I know for the time and work I have put in I am happy with the results so far, since I don’t have a big list to sell to, my blog is growing but I don’t have 10,000 subscribers to sell to, all I had was hard work and a few blogger relationships to help.

For anyone thinking about launching their own product I say DON’T lol  it’s hard work.

Now if your ok with hard work, long hours, no sleep, then go for it.

In the end you will have your own product to sell for life and no one can take that away from you.
