Twitter Landing Page

Few weeks ago I decided to set up a Twitter Landing Page for my new Twitter followers to visit from my Twitter profile.

My thinking was that it would be nice to have a more personal page for just my Twitter followers to visit and where I can Introduce myself and share more information on Twitter that they will be looking for

The goal is to get them to become new Twitter followers and Blog followers.

With a introduction to who I am and sharing posts about Twitter, it will make it much easier to reach my goals.

Traffic Numbers Explained

WOW!  I had 834,459 hits to my blog last month… Pretty dam good..Right?

Unfortunately…NO!

You see hits look great, but they don’t really mean anything at all. I know, it hit me hard back when I learned this too.  What is more depressing, is this is true for most of your traffic numbers.  But I have some good news below

We all want our blog to succeed, to some that means getting a big readership, for some it means making money etc… 

It doesn’t matter how you determine your blog’s success, we all have the same traffic numbers to look at

to see how our traffic is doing and looking at the wrong numbers will be a waste of time and misleading.

If I am online, then I am on Twitter, I am on Facebook, I am on Friendfeed, I am on my blog tweaking it, I am reading posts from top bloggers, I am always learning something new each day.

The more time you spend in the beginning of setting up your blog or your online business the less time you will need to spend on it in the future.

Build Your Business Like A Rocket Launch

Think of it like a rocket, a rocket waste like 50% of it’s fuel just on the take off, once it builds that momentum, it takes much less fuel to keep the rocket moving.

So in the beginning you will be spending a lot of time building and promoting your business to launch it, once you are up and running you can just continue with what you have already done.

Blog Tips To Keep Your Readers Stuck

Today, I will continue talking about blog visitors and making money with a blog. My last post  Make Money Blogging: 6 Simple Steps To Pull More Blog Visitors covered how to get more visitors, so now we will cover how to keep them stuck to your blog.

The best way is to keep readers stuck to your site is to provide people with good quality information and be helpful. Blogging has become one of the best tools for people that are trying to make money with a blog. Blogs that have crappy content, will have a very hard time keeping readers on their site, and monetizing that blog.

Here are some ways to write quality posts and keep readers stuck to your blog like jelly on  your fingers!

Keep Your Blog Posts Short and Sweet… When You Can

Ok I have trouble with this myself. But I think that if you have good content, it is ok to run a little longer.

But try to keep your posts straight to the point, since shorter posts normally have the best chance to keep readers stuck to your blog. Many people that read blogs are not looking for long run on posts, so keep it simple and move on.

Think Like Your Readers When You Write Your Post

You should be doing research within your niche, read what other bloggers are writing about, read what is in the headlines. Keep your posts targeted at your niche, this way you have the best chance for more visitors and keeping them coming back.

Write Like Your Having A One On One Conversation

You should be writing to your readers as if you were having a one on one conversation. Stay away from big complex words, keep the flow going.  Try talking to yourself as you write, sounds crazy but it has helped me

Keep Visitors Stuck With A Good Blog Design

Stay away from to much movement, colors. A nice clean easy to navigate blog makes people want to stay longer if things are easy to find. I like a good design helps stand you out of the bazillion blogs out there and makes branding yourself easier.

Promote Links To Other Parts Of Your Blog

Always offer your visitors a place to go after they read a post. Link to related posts, products, services and other useful resources, including your own social media sites.

This is just a few steps to keeping visitors stuck to your blog.

Ok today I am going to vent a little bit.

See I’m new to the blogging world and I have been slowly learning a lot from numerous top bloggers out there and believe me I am very appreciative.

But the problem I ran into last week was because I was taking a top blogger for his word, and followed his advice, which was BS!

I followed his advice on the Social Spark and promoting their crap thru CPC, and how much money you can make and how it wasn’t worth his  time to make up to $500 a day to invest his time, etc..

He talked about using Twitter marketing services like RevTwt to put out your link.

Now here are the issues

Social Spark sucks ass they are sooo tight on click qualifying that you will never make any real money.

I had over 800 “invalid clicks” with only 17 “possible qualifying clicks” that was before they canceled my link without telling me.  So I continued to pay for clicks thru RevTwt.. not cool!

Also I got this email from SP a week after my links were magically gone “We truly appreciate your enthusiasm! However, we have noted that you obtained many clicks for your CPC Opportunities from an outside marketing platform, http://revtwt.com which is in violation of our Terms Of Service sect. 3.8.”

The issue with this is,, you remember that top blogger?  He specifically said he used Revtwt and other Twitter marketing sites to promote his links..hmmm maybe the blogger and SP should review TOS and the post BEFORE it goes out?

This was all a complete waste of my time and money, because I chose to trust the “top blogger” and thought he was talking about his true efforts not a paid post.

So I contacted revtwt and explained my problem and I was refunded the remainder of my money within the hour.

They have been great!

Now this is NOT a promotion of revtwt, this is just me telling you that I was happy with there service and customer service and that I would work with them again.

End of the day I wasted money, time and lost respect for a blogger I had been following for the past 6 mnths.

Live and learn people, and when you read a post, ask yourself is he talking from experience or is it just  a really well written paid post

You can easily combine your email marketing and list building by setting up a Newsletter form on your blog. This way your visitors will have another way to get new information from you.
